CS2 skin market activity: median prices and volume
A cheap listing says what one seller asks, not what buyers usually pay. Start with the same item and exterior, then compare completed-sale statistics. The examples below are real Field-Tested reference prices from our snapshot, deliberately not labelled as sale medians.
Editorial review: . Price snapshot: · Skinport · USD.
Reference prices, not live offers. Suggested values may replace unavailable listings; fees, rare patterns and applied sticker premiums are not included. Missing prices are not zero.
Data and examples
| Skin | Exterior | Reference USD |
|---|---|---|
| AK-47 | Redline | Field-Tested | $20.93 |
| AWP | Atheris | Field-Tested | $3.84 |
| USP-S | Cortex | Field-Tested | $2.61 |
Three numbers answering different questions
A lowest listing is an asking price; a suggested price can substitute when no listing is available. A median sale price is the middle of completed-sale observations. Volume counts completed sales within a stated window on the source platform, not the number of users or all global trades.
For a teaching example only, sorted sales of $10, $11, $12, $13 and $100 have median $12 and average $29.20. The expensive observation moves the average much more. These invented numbers explain the calculation; they are not observed prices for the skins in the table.
Compare matching windows and variants
Our skin market panel reads 7-day, 30-day and 90-day median fields, plus 7-day and 30-day sale counts from Skinport. Compare the same exterior, StatTrak status and phase. A change in the mix of variants can look like a price trend even when matched items have not moved.
Seven days sit inside the thirty-day window, so the medians are overlapping summaries, not two independent consecutive periods. A few sales make a median fragile. Compare volume per day, V7/7 versus V30/30, rather than expecting raw seven-day volume to match a month.
Missing observations are not zero prices
No sales in a window can produce a missing median. A failed or delayed data refresh is a different condition and must not be interpreted as zero demand. Check the source, currency and snapshot date before comparing figures.
The bundled price file has no completed-sale medians or volumes, so we do not invent them for the examples. Open a linked skin page for available market statistics. Neither rising volume nor a higher short-window median guarantees resale liquidity or a future profit.
FAQ
Is the cheapest listing the median sale price?
No. The listing is an asking price; the median summarizes completed sales within a particular time window.
Does a missing median mean a skin is worth zero?
No. It can mean insufficient sale observations or unavailable data. Treat it as unknown and check the source, not as a zero-valued item.
