What we store

SkinRate has no accounts yet. Your ratings, wishlist, battle votes, Skindle results, level, badges and chosen visual style are saved only in your own browser (local storage). They never leave your device and you can clear them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Community votes

To build community rankings, your votes, battle picks, Skindle results and level are also sent to our database (hosted by Supabase in the EU) under a random anonymous ID created for your browser. It contains no name, email or Steam account unless you add one later. Community pages only ever show totals, never individual votes.

Taste Match links

When you create a Taste Match challenge, the link contains the name you typed and your like/pass picks on the challenge skins. Anyone you send the link to can see that information.

Third parties

Skin images load from Steam's image servers. Prices are a snapshot from Skinport's public API. Buttons such as “Get this skin” and “Inspect in game” take you to other sites or open Steam; those services have their own privacy policies. Some marketplace links may be affiliate links, which can tell the marketplace that you came from SkinRate.

Cookies and analytics

We do not use advertising cookies. We count anonymous usage, with no cookies and nothing that identifies you: which sections are visited, how long they stay active on screen, and counts of actions such as opening a case or comparing prices. Page views are measured with Vercel Web Analytics, which also works without cookies. Logging in with Steam sets one cookie that only holds your Steam ID, so the site knows it is you.

Inventory value history

When you are logged in with Steam and open your own inventory, we save its total value and item count once a day under your Steam ID, so we can show how the value changed since your last visit. Nothing else from your inventory is stored, and inventories you look up by link are never saved. Ask through the contact address below to have this history deleted.
