Guide
How to check a CS2 skin's float and pattern before buying
An exterior label is not the full identity of a skin. Before paying, match the seller's exact item to its finish, float, seed and any phase or StatTrak attributes. These checks help distinguish a catalog preview from the item you will receive.

Data and examples
| Skin | Float limits | Available exteriors | Pattern data |

| AWP | Atheris | 0.00–1.00 | Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, Battle-Scarred | No seed dataset here |
| AK-47 | Case Hardened | 0.00–1.00 | Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, Battle-Scarred | Check seed |
1. Match the finish and its allowed float range
Copy the exact weapon and finish name from the listing and open its SkinRate page. Compare the displayed wear value with the catalog's minimum and maximum. Our examples show why you cannot assume every finish supports all five exterior labels: Redline starts at 0.10, while Atheris spans 0 to 1.
The usual boundaries are 0.07, 0.15, 0.38 and 0.45. Use the full precision supplied by the listing, not a rounded two-decimal value. An input outside the catalog range is a reason to verify the item identity, not evidence of a special bargain.
2. Read the paint seed, not the thumbnail
If the marketplace exposes item details, find the wear value and paint seed there. Otherwise use its inspect-in-game link and the item's information view in CS2. Verify that the inspect link belongs to the exact listing you intend to buy; screenshots and generic images can describe a different item.
Float measures wear, while the paint seed selects texture placement. On supported Case Hardened skins, enter that seed in our pattern checker for the exact weapon. The same seed on a different model is not the same pattern. Doppler phase and paint index also need checking separately.
3. Inspect first, confirm again at checkout
Open the actual item in game and inspect the visible sides, scratches and any applied stickers. SkinRate's catalog controls let you explore examples; they do not prove the float, seed or stickers of a seller's inventory item.
Finally compare the listing ID, exterior, StatTrak or Souvenir status, final price and trade availability. A rare seed does not have a guaranteed premium in our ordinary price data. Do not install an unknown extension or share login credentials just to inspect an item.
FAQ
Can I read the exact float from a catalog image?
No. Use the actual listing's item details or inspect view. The catalog image and its wear options are examples, not evidence for a specific sale.
Does a low float guarantee a blue gem?
No. Wear and pattern placement are different properties. Check the paint seed for the exact weapon as well as its float.
