CS2 StatTrak explained: is the price premium worth it?
StatTrak adds a kill counter to supported weapons. Whether that is worth paying for is a personal preference. Our examples compare both versions at the same Field-Tested exterior instead of assuming a universal price multiplier.

Reference prices, not live offers. Suggested values may replace unavailable listings; fees, rare patterns and applied sticker premiums are not included. Missing prices are not zero.

The counter and the finish are different attributes
Valve introduced StatTrak as a way to record kills with a weapon. It is not a cleaner exterior or a special paint seed. When comparing listings, check the counter variant, float, pattern and exterior separately.
The catalog has a StatTrak availability flag for each finish. Do not assume every skin has a matching version. The table uses AK-47 Redline, AWP Atheris and USP-S Cortex only when both positive reference prices exist.
Calculate the premium on a like-for-like basis
For each example we subtract the ordinary Field-Tested price from the StatTrak Field-Tested price. The percentage difference is (StatTrak price / ordinary price - 1) × 100. This is a snapshot comparison of item names, not two inspected listings with identical float and seed.
There is no fixed multiplier in the calculation, and the difference is allowed to be negative. Availability and source estimates can distort a thin market. Missing StatTrak prices are not zero and do not establish that the variant is worthless.
When to pay for it
Consider the counter if you will enjoy using that weapon regularly. Compare the extra cost with an ordinary version in a condition you prefer. A favourite finish without a counter can be a better fit for a fixed budget than a more worn StatTrak copy.
Do not treat the premium as guaranteed profit or assume somebody else will pay your purchase price. For a trade-up, check the contract's StatTrak requirements separately from the skin's visual appearance; the linked calculator and guide describe the model used here.
FAQ
Does StatTrak mean a lower float?
No. StatTrak and float are separate attributes. Compare the actual exterior and float of each item.
Is StatTrak always worth a fixed percentage more?
No. Our table calculates each difference from the dated prices of the same finish and exterior. It does not apply or promise a universal markup.
